Images from Easter 2012

Guess what these images are....

Easter Weekend

After promising so many times that I'll give her a treat of her lifetime before she starts "un-schooling", we finally went to a whirlwind trip of our lives.

The itinerary sounds like this "sleep in the plane, wake up and walk into Disneyland".

Surely it is not a 5 year old's typical weekend.  But we pulled it off and even I had to get a little bit of magic on me.

Dear Teacher

Her dearest teacher recently got married.  It was a small humble wedding.  We were not invited, but here is a rendition of the wedding in her mind.
no kissing before marriage

then invitation get sent, sealed with love of course
so in love, hugging is ok
but must get married first
with music and people dancing

invite the other teachers and mom and me sends our love...

% of Love

We had been talking about percentage.  What is % and how we use it.  I suspect she thinks the more % is the better because this is how much she loves us.

1000%!

Doughnut Making

I was curious at her school cooking project on "Doughnut Making".  So when she got home, I asked her to write as clearly as possible, the recipe and the methods of making it.
This is what I got...
1 UHT Milk, the best eggs, 1 flour, 1 bowl, 1 spatula, 2 people, 2 sets of hands and 1 salt.  Note the movement of the hands....

Shopping List

One of the way to teach money values is through shopping catalogues and making her do a (mock) "shopping list".
Here is the result, with no sense of money values.  Long way to go still I guess.

Micro Doodles

"Yeay! For Sports Day"

Home school Doodles

One afternoon she asked about the zero slash zero sign on the calculator.  That's why we slipped in % study in our math lesson.  It's all about the pie...

All those studying made us hungry, proceed to afternoon tea.

The mini figures are around again....

Planets as Humans

As we are a pair who obsessed with the solar system, astrology and metaphysics, we often gaze into the sky at night using the SkyView app (great app!).
These are the major planets according to her as humans.
Sun, Mercury, and a container of brand new belt tossed in the bin.
Pegasus, Virgo and Scorpio.
Moon, Earth, Uranus, and Venus.
Saturn, Neptune, and Mars (the red child).
Yin and Yang (Yo).  Pretty sure Disney channel influence.  No matter how much Yin Yang concept I  shared with her, the "Yo" factor always pops up at the end.

Doodles Now

Nowadays she tends to make prototype of her drawings before drawing the real thing.
Then searches for the previous drawing to match it to the new drawing...
Then build on it to tell some stories.

February the month of Red, Pink, and Yellow

We love February, the month of love and care, food and more food, that is after the hard work of tidying up the entire house before the Lunar New Year arrives.  So here are some snapshots from my M.I.A period.

"Happy Water Dragon (Ren Chen) year"  lets ride the dragon in the rain.

Red Velvet cake (supposedly beetroot inside)
Classic Apple Pie

The freshly revived staircase to bring the flow of the new year's chi smoothly to the next floor.

Colour blocking of Casablanca Yellow and Heirloom Pink (thanks to Mr. Dulux).

My sanctuary wall.  Every guests has been told to sit at the corner and enjoy my "cloud".  LOL.
